«Get Loose»-Tour 2007 – Nelly Furtado live
Three multiple gold and platinum albums are the reference for Nelly Furtado (28) and her European tour. The only concert in France – at the legendary Olympia in the heart of Paris – was sold out within minutes. The Portuguese-Canadian exceptional singer is famous for her music which is influenced by different cultures; about style boundaries she does not care – in the meantime the innovative mixture of genres, sounds, languages and vocal styles is even Nelly Furtado’s brand mark. «It’s pop», the singer says, «it’s hip-hop, trip-hop, Brazilian folklore and some groovy samples. These are the best elements we have».
Nelly Furtado, daugther of Portuguese immigrants, which left the Azores to discover the Canadian Victoria, learned early ukulele and trombone. She played jazz, rock and funk and made the international break-through in 2002 with «I’m Like A Bird». Sun-tanned skin, black hair and shiny green eyes – Nelly Furtado radiates an unbelievable sex-appeal. World-wide her latest album «Loose» (which she describes herself as «punk-rock») is sold more than three million times. «It reveals how I launch everything and come absolutely detached to the point», Nelly Furtado says.
«Hello Paris! Are you ready for the party?» The graceful, 1.58 m small singer has audibly got riper in her pieces. Timbaland, one of the currently most popular hip-hop producers, has had the ideas for the new songs. The style of music is wilder, has more rock and even «classics» like «Forca» are accentuated clearly by a harder beat. «All Good Things (Come To An End», «Promiscious», «Turn Off The Light» – the great hits are all performed and sound brand-new. The live wire with Mediterranean temperament in the vains even jazzes unplugged and dances merengue. Sometimes dressed in a black trouser suit, sometimes in a skin-tight glitter dress, sometimes in a bordeaux-coloured flamenco gown – Nelly Furtado knows how she sides the audience with her. She plays the fabulous attractive camp on stage – and (not only) the gentlemen of creation fall immediately in crowds at her feet. At the end a litte bit guitar rock with head-banging and the all-inclusive-trip through the galaxy of style is finished by «Maneater».
Evaluation: Between groovy dance beats and soft ballads – Nelly Furtado inspires with multicultural songs full of rhythm, a colourful stage show and many sexy outfits. The Olympia boils. And the additions are obligatoric.
