«Fffffumagalli» is the star of the «Artistes» at Bouglione
Macerated ground? No problem! Draughty big top? By no means! Intermission outside in the rain? Surely not! The pros of a permanent hall are specially apparent during grey november days, you know. And accordingly the Bougliones have deciding location economies compared with their competitors in tents who traditionally overstock Paris downrightly around the christmas time. Artists from Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Spain perform since October 25th here in the rue Amelot in the bourgeois eleventh arrondissement of Paris. The noble building, the fantastic live orchestra of Tony Bario and ring master Sergio conjure also in this season a unique flair into the ring of the Bouglione winter circus.
In Europe there is a unique clown who becomes unevitably the star of each programme: Fumagalli (with the wet «f») alias Gianni Huesca. His facial expression get ahead of everything performed until now and is always new again. Together with his brother Darix and Bougliones white clown Alberto Caroli
he composes with his only short intermezzi the thread of «Artistes» and eclipses nevertheless anything else in the show. Fumagalli became popular at the circus Roncalli and performs since that time in the most famous circuses between Oslo and Rome. And in Rome plays currently also the American Circus from which the four tigers of trainer Hans-Ludwig Suppmeier came originally: Shiba, a white female with black stripes, Tibet, a male completely in white as well as Sumina and Delhi, two whites with golden stripes (two invaluable golden tabbys). They are the big attraction of the show. Predators are Ingo Stiebner's sea lions later in the programme, too, but they act cooler and present instead of teeth and claws their comedian talents and an obviously unquenchable appetite for fresh fish.
Régina and Joseph Bouglione above, two Andalusians below: The hosts of this evening draw the attention from the horseback and ride the double high school. The acrobats turn everything topsy-turvy: Strange Love cruises on their unicycles across the ring, the Huesca Brothers present their really fast act as Icarians, the duo Yingling whirls with its feet umbrellas through the air and during the appearances of the young juggler duo Ives Nicols and Sampion Bouglione jnr. maces, balls and rings learn to fly. As brilliant ventriloquist Willer Nicolodi has to contend with his own objections and those of his dog – noone else has really problems like these! The classic flying trapeze of the Flying Michaels is an apogee of the whole performance. The four Brazilians twirl against each gravitation through the dome. The triple salto or the double salto which is jumped blindfolded means a lot of thrill for the spectators who look up magnetised.
«Artistes» runs (with short interruptions) until March 4th, 2007, including at the Cirque d'Hiver Bouglione – prolongation not ruled out.
Résumé: «Artistes» is the strongest one of the previous productions of the «new Bouglione generation». The two- and four-legged stars create together with the excellent twelve person orchester a true circensic artwork.
