«Audace» at the Bouglione winter circus
In France the Bouglione family holds a long circus tradition. Their name is the most dazzling one of the scene, comparable in Germany maybe with Krone or Knie in Switzerland. Since 1999 there are again annually changing circus programmes in the last one of the Parisian winter circuses which is owned by the family for more than 70 years. Now on October 22nd «Audace», the sixth production of the Bouglione grandchildren, celebrated its premiere.
The show is basically pillared by four aspects: The overwhelming intérieur of the circus building, the fabulous light direction, a big, perfect circus orchestra and Sergio, the ringmaster who presented eloquently the Monte Carlo circus festival for so many years. Sergio owns the performing talent to make a star role out of is underpart. Together with the Italian white clown Alberto Caroli he constitutes the antipole to the reprise clowns Mimi and Angélique, who dream of an own, «real» circus act and practise, practise, practise.
In the face of animal trainings big pictures are missing: Six white horses turn pirouettes and three white camels dash through the ring. Thereby the quadruped make high demands on their presentators Joseph and Régina Bouglione: The Bouglione circus has already for a long time no own animals; all of them have to be borrowed from other enterprices. The trainers here have to imitate the trainers there, so that horses, camels & co. understand the intention of the gestures. In the second show part the audience sees the Frenchwoman Bella Ringenbach with her solo tiger
Giliak, who performs his tricks without cage and on a long leash only. Titbits as gratification he licks from the lips of his human partner or out of her open hands. What a nice sign of confidence! Unfortunately the Menestrelli with their dogs are once again a sad proof that Russian animal trainings will never reach the Westeuropean humanity level. What the poor barkers have to present in the ring in their foolish zany costumes (!) is animal cruelty from the bottom of the deck. Far away from each dignity is this act during that the dogs must almost permanently walk on their hind legs. It would be desirable that mistakes like this will not recure in future programmes.
«Audace» is French and means in English something like «audacity» or «courage». Accrordingly spectacular are the acrobatics, too: If Robin Valencia, the «human canonball» from the USA, the in Europe and North America very popular Antares with their rotating aerial voltige or the floor acrobatics of Iurie Basiul which reminds a lot on Anatoly Zalievski: The artistic spectrum is presented multi-faceted. Juggler Picasso Junior wirls pingpong balls with his mouth and dishes with his hands through the air – where Natalia Egorowa fascinates on the strapats.
Résumé: A spectacle of artistic special class – and only the location is already worth a visit!
